Nonprofits + Volunteering

New Beginnings – Kenya. New Beginnings is a nonprofit operating out of one of the largest slums in the world in Kenya Africa. Founded 5 years ago by two giving souls in their 20s NB gives children and adults with disabilities a safe place to learn, 2 meals per day and much needed time for their parents to look for work and provide for the rest of the family. New Beginnings also facilitates fundraisers for specialty items like prosthetics for amputees and off road wheelchairs to better navigate the rough terrain of the slums. I started helping New Beginnings remotely in 2016 with some design and marketing tasks and the following year spent a month in Kenya working with its staff and founder onsite to create fundraising content and document the nonprofit in depth. It was a life changing experience and one I will never forget, to learn more visit www.newbeginningsmis.com

Floating Doctors – Panama. Kellie and I spent a few days visiting the nonprofit that she spent over a year working with on a remote island in Panama during our last trip out of the country. Rain or shine a team of medical professionals, students and volunteers travel by boat to provide a wide range of medical services, from dental procedures to ultrasounds to Panamas indigenous people in local and rural areas that are only accessible by boat. It was an absolute pleasure meeting everyone at FD and getting to witness all the wonderful outreach they provide.
